WHO ARE THEY? ADMIRAL AND MRS. HERLIHY, BRIDGE LECTURERS Admiral and Mrs. J.L. Herlihy, the Bridge Lecturers for this cruise, are both Life Masters in the American Contract Bridge League. They have won many championships throughout the world, including San Francisco and Honolulu. They are best known in the bridge world as the married couple who play well together. This cruise is their 36th as Bridge Lecturers since Admiral Herlihy retired from the Navy in 1959. They have traveled on many passenger lines and have been in many ports in the world. The Herlihys are well-known by P.F.E.L. Mariners. Admiral Herlihy has given bridge lectures in the San Francisco Bay Area in various department stores, including The Emporium and Sears, San Jose State University and San Jose State College; also at The Villages and many golf and tennis clubs. His approach to bridge is interesting, informal and often amusing. Many people who do not play bridge attend and enjoy his shipboard lectures. Admiral Herlihy is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, The National War College and the Harvard Business School. These include short wave programs from the Voice of America and Armed Forces Network, as well as standard broad casts from local stations. However, atmospheric dis turbances, sunspot activity, electrical storms and other conditions frequently make reception from a given station unsatisfactory, or impossible. It is not possible to know in advance which specific stations will provide satisfactory reception, but we attempt to pick up the stations with the best reception for rebroadcast to your staterooms. News and enter tainment radio is not a function of the Radio Room but is provided by the Purser's Office. Passenger Information and Hawaii Visitor Bureau Forms - It is requested that all passengers com plete and return to the Purser's Office today the immigration forms placed in staterooms last night. This form contains information required for port formalities at all ports. It will also enable us to provide you with a "home town" passenger list. Please turn in passports and vaccination cards (signed) at the same time. These documents will be returned to you at your debarkation port. Leaving them at the Purser's Office will save you from pass ing inspections at ports en route. The Ship's Whistle is sounded daily at 12:00 noon and the watertight doors are tested daily at 1:00 p.m. Travel Books - We request that you return books about the ports we visit and the areas in which we travel as soon as you have read them as others may wish to read them.
