Smoking is permitted in all other public rooms except the Card Room and Writing Room where cigars and pipes are not permitted. Safety Precautions - Please do not walk around the interior of the ship with bare feet, especially in areas that have just been mopped. The decks in the passageways and other public areas are highly pol ished and therefore are very slippery when wet. News Broadcasts - An effort is made to pick up the best radio news programs for distribution through the speakers in your stateroom. These include short wave programs from the Voice of America and Armed Force's Network, as well as standard broad casts from local stations. However, atmospheric dis turbances, sunspot activity, electrical storms and other conditions frequently make reception from a given station unsatisfactory, or impossible. It is not possible to know in advance which specific stations will provide satisfactory reception, but we attempt to pick up the stations with the best reception for rebroadcast to your staterooms. News and enter tainment radio is not a function of the Radio Room but is provided by the Purser's Office. Motion Sickness Medicine may be obtained without charge from the Doctor's Office, from your Room Steward or from the Purser's Office. This medicine is called Marezine and can give substantial relief for those inclined toward motion sickness. Safety Suggestions for Young People - When moving about the ship, walk, do not run, as you may collide with someone who is stepping into the passageway. Parents are requested to impress upon young chil dren the importance of not running. Safety Precautions - Please observe common sense in regard to fire which is extremely dangerous at sea. Do not throw lighted cigarettes over the side (which may be blown back aboard), or in trash recepticals until you are certain they are extin guished, nor hang garments over light fixtures - common fire hazards. Doors in staterooms may close on the fingers of the unwary unless the doors are firmly engaged to the friction door holder. Be careful when stepping over door sills, particu larly when going in or out of the interior of the ship to open decks. Emergency Procedures In the case of an emergency there will be a con tinuous ringing of the ship's General Alarm Bells. When this signal is sounded, all passengers are to report immediately to their assigned lifeboat stations wearing their life jackets which are located in the staterooms. The location of your lifeboat station and instruc tions pertaining to proper method of wearing life jacket is posted in your stateroom, either on the inside of your wardrobe door or in the bathroom. We urge you to locate and try on your life jacket as soon as possible. Your Room Steward will be happy to assist you in locating your life jacket and instruct you in the proper method to don the jacket.
