Abstract

The purpose of this research is to see if the changes in the economy have any association to the way consumers spend their money and the impact it has on businesses. In addition, based on the issues with some stores’ low revenue and store closures, this research will exemplify how businesses manage to adjust with the evolving economy, whether successful or not. We surveyed people in Hawaii to collect both qualitative and quantitative data. We conclude with closing thoughts on the possible impacts of a recession on spending habits of consumers.
