dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this research study was to determine how student-centered instruction can affecr the overall learning and academic performance of students in mathematics. Research from NCTM's Principles to Actions: Ensuring Mathematical Success for All (2014) shows that mathematics instruction is effective when it not only focuses on mathematics learning, but also builds off students' knowledge, backgrounds, culturesm and experiences (pg. 60).
