Wēkiu Bug Dataset: June 2016 - June 2017
    (ProQuest, 2018-05) Kirkpatrick, Jessica
This spreadsheet includes raw data values of wēkiu bug (Nysius wekiuicola) counts from June 2016 - June 2017 on two cinder cones (Puʻuhauʻoki and the puʻu south of the Very Long Baseline facility, S.VLBA) on Maunakea. Trap sites were visited six times throughout the sample period and each trap site is associated with an elevation, mineral type, aspect (cardinal direction), slope, and site coordinates. The associated elevation, aspect, and slope were derived from a 10m and 1m resolution Digital Elevation Model and mineral type was obtained from a 10m and 1m surficial mineralogy dataset. For each trap site the total number of wēkiu bugs were recorded along with the total number of bugs in each demographic category including the number of males, females, mating pairs, and 1st thru 5th instars (immature stage). The probabilities of capturing each demographic category were calculated for statistical analysis. The M.S. thesis, based on the dataset, is available at https://dspace.lib.hawaii.edu/handle/10790/3502.
